Instructions:
- On Thursday, March 20, you will post your workshop submission to your group. You The submission should be 5-10 pages (though up to 15 pages is OK if you have a lot of dialogue) and will be formatted as a theatre piece, either a radio or stage play, including any necessary stage directions. Do not submit late as it’s unfair to your peers who will be taking time to review your work.
- By Sunday, March 30, post your peer feedback on Moodle. You will have the chance to discuss all the plays and give informal feedback in your groups throughout the workshop week.
- After having your play peer-reviewed, you will return to it, consider the suggestions, and revise your draft for April 4th.
- Be sure to include a 300-450 word revision statement providing a reflection on the dramatic writing unit and what you learned as well as a summary of the workshop process and what you revised.
- Check your spelling and grammar before submitting.
- Try to limit your revision to a maximum of 15 pages
- The assignment will be graded according to the rubric provided on the next page.

-There are no important clarity issues that would interfere with the reader’s ability to understand key plot points or ideas. -The student shows a solid understanding of the functions of dialogue and/or monologue as ways to characterize and create tension. -The revision statement outlines a reflective process and substantive changes were done when needed. -Overall, the writing engages the reader and reflects effective use of craft elements like dialogue, monologue, scene structure and plot. |
| 14-15 (B range) | – The student shows control of language with carefully crafted sentences.
-There may be some minor clarity issues that would interfere with the reader’s ability to understand key plot points or ideas. -The revision statement outlines a reflective process but potentially not a lot of changes were made in the revision process. Alternatively, the revision statement may be underdeveloped. -Overall, the writing engages the reader and reflects effective use of craft elements like dialogue, monologue, scene structure and plot with some level of success. |

-The piece of writing has potential but needs substantial revision. -There are likely craft issues that interfere with the reader’s ability to understand key plot points or ideas, or there may be significant grammatical issues, but there is a sense of plot structure and character development. -The revision statement is underdeveloped or was not included. -Overall, the writing demonstrates some difficulties with craft elements like dialogue, monologue, scene structure and plot. |

A passing grade will be assigned if the submission shows multiple issues but still demonstrates an effective understanding of dramatic writing. |
| If a student receives a grade of 8 or less, either nothing was handed in, the work was submitted very late, or what was submitted did not meet the requirements for a post-secondary writing course.
