This week you will complete your Animal Advocate assignment. For this assignment, you will describe what you are doing to save, protect, and/or support animals in our local and/or global communities, and explain why this type of advocacy is needed, (rationale for advocacy efforts), while incorporating relevant content from the course, and reputable sources to highlight the current issues at hand (including specific examples, statistics, etc.).
You are required to incorporate a minimum of two relevant theoretical perspectives (introduced in Weekly Session #1) to help explain your animal advocacy efforts.
Theoretical perspectives: Functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, and feminist theory
Examples of animal advocacy include, but are certainly not limited to volunteering at a animal shelter, sanctuary, or any institution where animals require care and assistance, refraining from using products that are tested on animals, refraining from meat and/or other animal products, donating to different animal charities, adopting only from animal rescues, etc. Please be specific.
You are required to incorporate four reputable and external sources to help support your claims, and cite and reference your sources in APA format. Remember, reputable sources include academic journal articles, books, and websites ending in .edu or .gov.
Style: You may submit your assignment as a written document (2-3 pages), video (2-3 minutes), PowerPoint (10-15) slides, or any other format approved by me.
If you are doing a YouTube video, you can submit your references in the Animal Advocate assignment link. If you are submitting a written document or PowerPoint, you can post your references within your assignment.
This assignment is due in the Animal Advocate assignment link within the ‘Weekly Assignments’ folder by Sunday at 11:30 pm.
