Objective:
This assignment is designed to help you reflect on your recent field trip to Georgian bay hotel in Collingwood. You will analyze the service culture, explore the various room types, and assess the departments and services offered by the resort. This will enhance your understanding of how different elements contribute to the overall guest experience in a resort setting.
Instructions:
- Service Culture Reflection (5 Marks)
- Describe the service culture you observed at the resort. Consider the following aspects:
- How were you greeted upon arrival?
- What was the overall attitude of the staff towards guests?
- Were there any unique service practices or rituals that stood out to you?
- How did the resort’s service culture align with or differ from what you’ve learned in class?
- Provide specific examples to support your observations.
- Describe the service culture you observed at the resort. Consider the following aspects:
- Room Types Analysis (10 Marks)
- Identify and describe at least two different room types available at the resort. Your room and perhaps that of a friend (you may need to do online research for the second room type). Do NOT go to the front desk to ask to see another room.
- Discuss the target market for each room type (e.g., families, couples, business travelers).
- Evaluate the amenities and features of each room type and how they contribute to the guest experience.
- Include photos or illustrations of the rooms if possible (ensure you have permission to use these images).
- Departments and Services Evaluation (10 Marks)
- List the key departments you encountered during your stay (e.g., Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa).
- Describe the role of each department in contributing to the overall guest experience.
- Reflect on any interactions you had with these departments. Were there any standout experiences or challenges? How were they handled?
- Overall Experience and Recommendations (5 Marks)
- Summarize your overall experience at the resort. What did you enjoy most? Were there any areas where the resort could improve?
- Provide at least two recommendations for the resort to enhance its service culture, room offerings, or department efficiency.
- Support your recommendations with examples from your experience or industry best practices that we’ve talked about in class or from the readings online.
Submission Requirements:
- Format: Typed, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins.
- Length: 5 paragraphs at minimum (excluding title page and references). Title Page: Include your name, student ID, course name, and date.
- References: Cite any external sources used (e.g., industry standards, textbooks, online resources) in APA format.
- Photos/Illustrations: If including images that aren’t your own personal images, label them clearly and ensure they are relevant to your discussion.
- Personal Voice: The content must contain your personal thoughts, experiences and reflections from your Georgian bay hotel in Collingwood trip. You may NOT use AI to generate generic comments about subject matter. Assignments submitted without personal reflection and lack of knowledge about the resort will receive a mark of zero or be deducted appropriately.
