Part of our role in healthcare involves taking care of ourselves and our staff so that we are all in a position to provide the best quality of care. This assignment asks you to explore options that you have to do things for yourself (and potentially with the ones that you love) to help relate to your self-care. Walking the walk will also put you in a better position as a leader to support your team.
Instructions:
- Identify and describe things that you do for you related to self-care. This should include things you do in your leisure but may involve other areas as well.
- How do these activities relate to the domains of health (motoric, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual)? I.e. what are you doing for each domain? Do you have balance in your choices?
- Identify when you do different things (how often, seasonal, when scheduled versus spontaneously, etc.)
- Discuss what you can do to improve your personal wellbeing.
- Identify at least two goals that you have to improve it moving forward. Write these as SMART goals and identify timelines, locations, number of times, resources, etc. The more detailed you can be with the plan the more likely that you will follow through.
- If there are resources that you are going to use (online programs, places in the community, etc. then link those resources as part of your answer.
