Teacher’s Anagogical Preferences and Developmental Stage
Prepare an analysis paper in which a new public school teacher can explore her own anagogical preferences and developmental stage.
Be sure to include the following in your analysis:
- An introduction in which Knowles’ four basic assumptions of adult learning is mentioned
- Theories pertaining to experience and learning.
- Levels of cognitive and conceptual development.
- Where a new teacher may be in the Frances Fuller stages of development.
- An example of a transition event that can impact a new teacher’s life and educational career.
- Summarize by transferring theoretical learning to anticipated practice.
o What can be learned about oneself?
o What is needed from supervisors and from the educational culture in which a teacher works or is aspired to work in order to continue her development as a teaching adult? (Remember that school administrators remain teachers; they are teachers of adults as well as children.)
o Why is it important to analyze the anagogical preferences and developmental phases of the teachers with whom a new teacher will work?
